What this field is actually up against.
Rainfall has become less predictable in exactly the places where income depends on it most. Households absorb that risk directly: a failed season is not a statistic but a year of school fees.
Climate programs frequently fail on adoption. A practice that improves resilience but reduces this year's income will be abandoned, regardless of how well it was explained.
How YOCED works here.
YOCED treats resilience as an economic question. The practices we work on — soil management, residue return, mulching, water-conscious production, crop choice — are the ones that also protect yield and reduce cost.
Circular economy thinking runs through the production work: crop residue has a use, waste streams have a value, and inputs that can be produced locally should be.
Renewable energy and environmental awareness sit alongside this as areas where YOCED works with partners who bring the specific technical capacity.
